Ahrefs Launches AI Keyword Clustering: Automating Content Planning for 50% Greater Efficiency

This week, SEO tools giant Ahrefs rolled out a brand-new AI keyword clustering feature inside Keywords Explorer. The feature automatically groups a bulk-imported list of keywords based on SERP similarity and semantic relevance, with each group representing a single piece of content that should be created on its own. According to official figures from Ahrefs, users who adopted the feature cut the time spent on the keyword research phase by an average of 52%, while the accuracy of the keyword groupings reached 87%. The core algorithm behind the feature is built on two dimensions: SERP overlap rate (keywords that appear on the same search results page are grouped together) and semantic similarity (using a large language model to determine how closely related keywords are in meaning). Ahrefs expects the feature to be further integrated into its content gap analysis workflow in the next release.
