In its annual content quality study, Search Engine Journal found that for keywords tied to YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) topics, articles with a clearly named author that include an author bio and relevant professional credentials rank, on average, 37% higher in search position (i.e., closer to the top) than articles of equivalent content quality published anonymously. The study analyzed the TOP 10 search results for 1,200 YMYL keywords between January 2025 and March 2026, drawing on a sample of 12,000 articles. The research also found that when an author bio includes externally verifiable information—such as a LinkedIn link, academic credentials, or membership in an industry organization—the ranking advantage widens further to 52%. This finding strongly reinforces the substantive impact that "Expertise" and "Authoritativeness" within E-E-A-T have on search rankings. The recommendation for YMYL content sites is to immediately add named authors and standardized author bios to every article.
